Tottenham offer Premier League defender to Swansea City to sweeten Joe Rodon deal
Reports of Wales international Rodon moving to Spurs have gathered pace in recent days
Tottenham Hotspur could now include defender Cameron Carter-Vickers as part of the bid to sign Swansea City star Joe Rodon, according to reports.
Spurs have been linked with a move for Wales international Rodon, who the Swans value somewhere north of £18m.
It has been suggested, though, that Tottenham are way off in their valuation of the player, meaning negotiations still have some way to go if a deal is to be struck.
But, according to The Sun, Spurs are now willing to offer Carter-Vickers as a makeweight to bring the 22-year-old centre back to north London.
The United States international has previously had a successful loan spell with Swansea and it is thought Swans boss Steve Cooper considers centre back an area in which he needs to strengthen.
We understand that Cooper wants one centre back but will want two should Rodon leave, so a player-trade-plus-cash deal would go some way to assuaging Rodon's departure.
Sources have played down the chances of a move for reported target and Manchester City defender Joel Latibeaudiere, a man Cooper knows well from his time in the England youth setup.
Blackburn Rovers defender Derrick Williams remains an option, meanwhile, although it appears funds would have to be generated from player sales if a swoop for the Republic of Ireland international was to materialise.
So, with a little more than a week left to run in this transfer window, there could be many twists and turns and, depending on how the Swans' transfer business plays out in that time, Carter-Vickers might become a viable option.
The domestic-only transfer window shuts at 5pm on Friday, October 16.
