Liverpool or Tottenham perfect for Birmingham ace Che Adams
BIRMINGHAM striker Che Adams would be a perfect signing for Tottenham or Liverpool.
That is according to Birmingham hero Michael Johnson who played for the club from 1995 until 2003.
Che Adams joined the Blues from Sheffield United for a fee of around £1.5million.
Adams, 22, has gone on to score 35 goals in 119 appearances of Birmingham, including a spectacular 19 in all competitions this term.
Johnson believes that although Garry Monk will be keen to keep hold of his prized asset, it is only a matter of time until Adams reaches the top of English football.
“Che Adams is a real rough diamond for Birmingham,” Johnson told Express Sport.
“I think that there are a few different types of striker in the Premier League and I don’t think he would fit in at a team that isn’t about physically and likes to play their way through to goal slowly.
“I could see Adams at Tottenham, with the way they play.”
Spurs currently have Harry Kane, Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen on the books, but only Kane is assured of a place in the first-team for next season.
Johnson thinks that Adams would be a smart addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s side ahead of next season.
He added: “He loves the ball in and around the box and I think he has what it takes to play at the very top.
“I tend to see him as a player that wants to be physical and wants the ball in behind to use his pace.
“I think he would also fit in perfectly at a team like Liverpool.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has deployed Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi up front this season, but only the former has scored more than four goals.
Johnson thinks that Birmingham have a tough decision on whether to keep or sell Adams in the summer.
“It’s a difficult decision whether to sell Adams and I’m glad it’s not my call to make, all clubs want to keep their best players but of course Adams will have his own ambitions,” Johnson added.
“Every player wants to play at the top and whether we wants to stay for another year or want his dream to happen immediately, what you do know is that it’s just a matter of time until he goes.”
