Tottenham sent official for forward at weekend, club could sell for ‘giant’ offer
Sabah claim Tottenham Hotspur watched Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi in action for Kosovo during his country’s 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic at the weekend.
The 25 year old has been in great form recently and the Turkish newspaper claim the Premier League side are following his progress. With Fernando Llorente leaving Tottenham this summer this has left Mauricio Pochettino light in the No.9 position.
Along with Tottenham, it’s reported Serie A sides Napoli, Fiorentina and Lazio were also in attendance to watch him score for his team.
Sabah claim Fenerbahce’s board are very happy with his performances and won’t consider parting ways with the player unless someone makes a ‘giant’ offer for him.
Muriqi joined Fenerbahce from Caykur Rizespor during the summer transfer window for €3.5m and has quickly established himself as a key player at the Super Lig club. He’s completely transformed the attacking line at Fenerbahce since he made his debut, scoring two goals in the opening three games of the season.
The former Rizespor striker is under contract with Fener until June 2023.
Spurs had previously scouted the player when Kosovo defeated the Czech Republic last week.
Despite losing the game 5-3, Kosovo played some decent football at St. Mary’s and the Fenerbahce striker impressed against Gareth Southgate’s team.
Muriqi scored one and assisted the other two of his team’s three goals, and his overall display showed why Tottenham are showing serious interest in him ahead of the next transfer window.
Sabuncuoglu claim Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and the club’s head of scouting Steve Hitchen monitored the forward.
Muriqi has been in great form for Fenerbahce this season and has scored two goals in three appearances for his new club. Subsequently there have been reports Fener now value him in the region of €20m and will only speak to clubs willing to pay this.
The former Rizespor striker is under contract with Yellow Canaries until June 2023.
Tottenham scouts to take in England clash as they eye striker
Tottenham will reportedly send a scout to watch Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi when England head to Kosovo on Sunday.
Muriqi has been linked with several Premier League clubs in recent months, having impressed for club and country this season, but Fanatik claims that Spurs are very keen on the player.
The 25-year-old attacker, who is also a reported target for Atletico Madrid and Lazio, continued his fine form when he scored two goals on Friday as Fenerbahce beat Kasimpasa. The Yellow Canaries are now 2nd in the Turkish Super Lig after 11 games.
The Kosovo international has scored seven times for his club in this term and Fanatik adds that while Tottenham are keen on landing the player, Fenerbahce want to keep him until at least the end of the season.
Claims of Spurs interest had appeared to quieten down, but with Mauricio Pochettino’s men struggling domestically it would appear that a move for a new striker to either partner or back up Harry Kane is very much on the cards in January.
